01 Mar 2006

BELMONT AND EDGWARE CONTINUE SUCCESS

Following on from winning the Macabbi 6-a-side competition Belmont and Edgware C.C. held their own successful event for the 2nd year on Sunday 17th April. Twenty four players of varying abilities and ages took part including some youngsters who had attended the club’s first youth section training the week before. The sides were evenly balanced and the final game decided all four places. Richard Ableson tried to captain his side to a victory against the only unbeaten side, who were lead by Macabbia’s Ashley Connick. A suitably difficult target of 125 was set but it proved insufficient and Connick’s team were named champions. There were many highlights during the day but special mention went to Elliot Mayer (13yrs) who took two 1st team wickets and his brother Mitchell (10yrs) who got two wickets in the first match of the day. A great day was had by all and it was a good way to prepare for a very challenging season, where all three sides will be competing in the Macabbi League (the only club able to offer 3 league teams to it’s members).
