B&E 1st XI thrash LMV in the league

01 Mar 2006

Sunday started with a light spell of rain whilst travelling towards Rowley Lane and both teams were concerned with what may be in store as the previous two meetings had play broken by rain.

Jon Lederman won the toss and elected to bowl on a pitch that looked to be hard and fast. Opener Oli Simons did a fantastic job of keeping the scoreboard ticking with a solid 65 which included 11 boundaries. Klein, J Wymbourne, Wienburg and A Connick all played themselves into the mid 20's but just couldn't convert them to half centuries.

N Lederman bowled well taking 4/44 in his 8 overs whilst the rest of the bowlers chipped in for a few wickets. B&E closed the innings on 223/9 in their 40 overs.

After tea LMV put on their pads for the 2nd innings. The weather started to look a little more gloomy and urgency set in for B&E to get through the overs and keep things tight for a result. Wickets fell consistently with 4 having fallen in the 1st four overs. Only two batsman just managed to make double figures as the bowling was kept tight. Prager (3/38), E Davis (3/17) and R Ableson (3/5) left only a single wicket to be taken by Connick who was given an over to bowl. LMV were bowled out for just 78 runs. A convincing and clinical win by Belmont & Edgware where everyone played a role.
